While I feel for your situation..
It's not a bad idea all told really, would stop people getting screwed over so often (namely men!)

Agreed: that's pretty clever
Whichever option the bugger chooses, you'd be left thinking you pitched it too high/low, that you'd either given him a bargain or stitched yourself up with an over-high valuation.
Mean but smart.
