"Part of my kitchen floor are thick with dust, grease, part of a broken mug, a few mummified oven-chips, a desiccated used teabag and a couple of pieces of cutlery", says Sandettie Light Vessel Automatic. To most people, that's filth. To some of us, that's dinner. Tell us about squalid homes or obsessive cleaners.

I was away for summer, and the landlord told my friend that I was not getting any of my deposit back because I had burned the carpet with a heater.
My friend's response was to tell him that if that was the case, we would get environmental health to check the room out, as it always had wet walls due to damp, and mold, and I had got a couple of chest infections over the year.
I got my deposit back.
Also, not sure if environmental health would even have done anything, but the threat worked. Is that what they do?
