My wife used to do this too.I once couldn't find something and ended up searching under the stairs to find it full of boxes full of random crap. Turned out that tidying up consisted of "obtain empty box, fill empty box, stash full box". I've pretty much broken her of this now (though the odd box will still turn up time to time). The house is a lot less tidy but it drives me crazy to have to search for stuff especially if I need the stuff for something I am about to do.
