My late father could most politely be described as a right dickhead. My brother and I were the only people to attend the funeral. I only went to check that he was actually dead. As they lowered the coffin into the ground, I couldn't shake the feeling that one day he would crawl out of there to come and get me.

Sorry it's not funny...

I think this is a great post.
Funerals for people who have passed unmissed or unmourned intrigue me. What's the point? Yet they are held anyway.

Those two went to the funeral. If they hadn't gone, would there have been funeral at all or would the vicar've just said 'Stuff it, plant him!'?

Also, if you go to a funeral you are by definition a mourner, even if you don't feel like mourning the deceased. That'd annoy me a bit, I reckon.
