During my first lab jobOne of my collegues was making a list for the weekly ordering when I told him we were out of anhydrous dihydrogen monoxide. An hour later he came to double check with me as he had been trying to find it in the chemicals catalogue without any joy. So I picked up some handy post it notes and slowly repeated back to him "anhydrous dihydrogen monoxide" while writing H2O on the post it and holding it up infront of him. When the penny dropped he called me a bastard and walked away.
