does his girl defend himwhen her mum calls him worthless? if she doesn't he might as well dump her now as it won't be long until she actually starts believing the spiteful bile that comes out of her mother's mouth.
on the plus side, if she does defend him, there's a chance she might start ignoring her mother altogether.
