I once worked with a woman who couldn't pronounce "Cavalier"she pronounced it "C' VAR-lier". Sitting in the office listening to her phoning round newspaper ads asking questions about the "C' VAR-lier for sale" was quite amusing, since the people on the other end of the phone evidently had no idea what she was talking about at first.
Quite amusing for the first day, anyway.
My wife and I have adopted this pronunciation between ourselves because we found it quite amusing; but you don't half get some funny looks if you inadvertently use it in public. Perhaps that's how my workmate got started with it.
