This is a question Irrational Hatred

People who say "less" when they mean "fewer" ought to be turned into soup, the soup fed to baboons and the baboons fired into an active volcano. What has you grinding your teeth with rage, and why?

The get/have annoyance
People who go to the bar and instead of saying “Can I have a pint of Grolsh” they say “Can I get a pint of Grolsh”. Much as the bar person would probably prefer you to get it your bloody self that’s not what you’re actually asking to do, is it?

I believe
'May I' is correct, but sounds a bit poncey.

After a previous gripe along these lines
I took a shitload of flak for being a manners/grammar Nazi so I can not possibly confirm my agreement with this 'hate'.

^this^
In addition they think that the following "please" is mute too.

Since they're ordering Grolsh
we already know that they're ignorant fuckers

this is compounded in certain shades of Americanese
where the expression is either 'Yeah, I need to get a pitcher of lite beer' to the barfolk, or 'Yo barkeep, hit me!' (slams hand on bar) when what they would actually like is another shot of spirit in their glass.
