Alphabetical vs. chronological.I used to work for a short-lived chain of bookshops. Company policy dictated that we arrange the shelves alphabetically, by author and then by title. A fine policy for books which weren't in a series, but an utterly stupid policy for those (and there were lots of them) which were. Regardless, were paid (if you could call it pay) to adhere to it.
