Lies that went on too longWhen you lie you often have to keep lying. Share your pain. When I was 15 I pretended to be 16 to help get a summer job. Then had to spend a summer with this nice shopkeeper asking me everyday if I was excited about getting my GCSE results. I felt like an utter shit. Thanks to MerseyMal for the suggestion.

I think this happens to a lot of peopleOne of my closest friends at uni told me from day 1 that she had no interest in being a chemist, she was just doing it cos it was "a good degree". 3 years after leaving she still doesn't know what she wants to do. I'm 18 months into my PhD, being one of these lucky (?!) people who realised that their only goal in life was to become a research scientist from the age of about 12 but have realised that the lifestyle of a research scientist is HARD, even though I love the work. So even at this late stage I'm wondering about where my career will go next. I'm vaguely wondering about science writing/editing because I'm a bit of a coughgrammarnazicough but who knows. I think the lesson is to never be ashamed to enjoy what you're doing, or admit that you've changed your mind.

Howcan you be a coughgrammarnazicough when your username is grammatically incorrect? Makes me cringe every time I see it, I assume (hope) it's intentional for whatever reason though.
