Splitting an infinitive is perfectly acceptable in EnglishThe only reason people think it isn't is because of Grammar Nazis in the 18th century, who a) thought Latin was in some sense "better" than any other language, and b) who wanted to sell more grammar books, so made up a whole load of arbitrary rules.
