Neighbours
I used to live next door to a pair of elderly naturists, only finding out about their hobby when they bade me a cheerful, saggy 'Hello' while I was 25 feet up a ladder repairing the chimney. Luckily, a bush broke my fall, but the memory of a fat, naked man in an ill-fitting wig will live with me forever.

There's a lovely little pub near me
It really is a pillar of the community. You go there and you'll meet everyone from streets around, of all ages, they have a very communal open mic night, quizzes, all the usual stuff, but it really is packed every week. It's a wonderful place to have as your local.
This sour old cunt moved in next door to it a year back, started complaining about the noise on the open mic night. Not that it's that loud. Mostly acoustic guitars and a small amp. He started these complaints less than a week after he'd moved in, instantly alienating himself from the local community.
Eventually the noise levels had to be measured, and surprise surprise, well within tolerable limits.
But yes. Why would you move in next door to a pub if you're going to be that anal about the noise? The small-mindedness of some people really does beggar belief.
