This is a question The nicest thing someone's ever done for me

In amongst all the tales of bitterness and poo, we occasionally get fluffy stories that bring a small tear to our internet-jaded eyes.

In celebration of this, what is the nicest thing someone's done for you? Whether you thoroughly deserved it or it came out of the blue, tell us of heartwarming, selfless acts by others.

Failing that, what nice things have you done for other people, whether they liked it or not?

nice thing
I was walking down Coldharbour lane late at night and this massive guy was holding a girl by the neck. She was screaming "get off me, please get off me".

I resigned myself to death and asked him to leave her alone.

He let go of her and quickly walked towards me - hugged me and squeezed my arse.

He said "nice one mate most people wouldn't have stopped. We were only messing though".

She said "Naaaaaaah mate naaagh we was messing!"

So I risked death for my fellow (wo)man, and in return got my arse felt.

wow
you're a braver man than me, I avoid Coldharbour Lane. Have done ever since my girlfriend lived there, was about to leave her house one night and looked one way down the street to see a gang of about fifteen lads with chains and baseball bats. She looked the other way to see a larger gang with planks of wood with nails in and knives. She and her housemates locked themselves inside the house, phoned the police and waited for the shouts and screams to be replaced by sirens and flashing lights before they even dared look out the window...

Good for you
Not something a lot of people would do round here.

You've gotta love Brixton, but you see some crazy stuff on the streets late at night - a couple of weeks ago I saw an armed car-jacking and a guy knocked down by a car on the same night within 50metres of each other (if I hadn't been drunk I'd probably be traumatised)
