The nicest thing someone's ever done for me
In amongst all the tales of bitterness and poo, we occasionally get fluffy stories that bring a small tear to our internet-jaded eyes.
In celebration of this, what is the nicest thing someone's done for you? Whether you thoroughly deserved it or it came out of the blue, tell us of heartwarming, selfless acts by others.
Failing that, what nice things have you done for other people, whether they liked it or not?

I always hold doors open for people
but there comes a point sometimes when there is a bit of distance between the person walking to the door. so i think do i keep holiding the door for another 5 seconds and risk making me look a tit or do i quickly slam it shut.

I do it for the ladies
and you always win a smile as you check out their goodies in full panoramic technicolor glory.
I like ladies, me.

I do that
sometimes I can stand there for a good few seconds and the person I'm holding it for usually looks at me funny :(
Can't beat a bit of chivalry though :P

I always tend to hold the door open for people...
... I've never really given it any thought though, I just do....
Is it really that unusual?

I grin at them and say
'I haven't got all day!' and they usually laugh and pretend to hurry.

From the other point of view
When you know someone is holding the door for you and you're in your way upstairs, is not nice to have to run. So shut the door.
