You don't do things like that for someone you don't like...For instance, my dad yells at me a lot and when I'm not there turns on my brother. But he loves us both very much. I think he just likes to vent anger...

Au contraireIt is quite possible to love someone, while not actually likeing them at the same time.
The one is a bizarre, irrational emotional attachment, the other is more of a considered judgement regarding someone's standing and worth.
