This is a question The nicest thing someone's ever done for me

In amongst all the tales of bitterness and poo, we occasionally get fluffy stories that bring a small tear to our internet-jaded eyes.

In celebration of this, what is the nicest thing someone's done for you? Whether you thoroughly deserved it or it came out of the blue, tell us of heartwarming, selfless acts by others.

Failing that, what nice things have you done for other people, whether they liked it or not?

Dartford Crossing
(Dont know if they still have manned booths any more but they used to...)

Pull up, give em 2 quid, tell the attendant youre paying for the random car behind. Drive off, try and watch the reaction of the guy behind. I used to do this a lot.

Nice? Or stalker scary?

Haha
Great idea :)

It's some sort of anti road rage. Road nice?

I'm rather tempted to do that every so often
As I go through the tolls every couple of weeks.

Sweetie?
A friend once handed over a pound coin with a boiled sweet, and said, 'enjoy!'
The attendant scowled, and threw it in the bin.

I recently pulled up at the Dartford Crossing behind a guy that had no money
he was scrambling around trying to find a pound, so I just got out of the car, walked up to the booth and paid the lady £2 for both cars - I think he was a bit shocked.

There's not much
you can buy for £1.00 these days. This sounds like one of the better ways to spend a quid. Well done that man.

Theoretically, once started that could go on ad infinitum:

1/ The first driver pays £2 and gets a fuzzy feeling.
2/ The second driver finds they've been paid for, and gets a grateful feeling. They can then give their un-needed pound as payment for car behind them, and get a fuzzy feeling too.
3/ The third and subsequent drivers repeat step two, spreading happiness down the carriageway.
