This is a question The nicest thing someone's ever done for me

In amongst all the tales of bitterness and poo, we occasionally get fluffy stories that bring a small tear to our internet-jaded eyes.

In celebration of this, what is the nicest thing someone's done for you? Whether you thoroughly deserved it or it came out of the blue, tell us of heartwarming, selfless acts by others.

Failing that, what nice things have you done for other people, whether they liked it or not?

I know I should...
As much as I'd love to just 'go for it', I need to apply for the job first, and have some sort of certainty that I have it before I can even consider moving, plus they need to have someone move out of the house, which my friend said is likely soon, but they have no timeframe. I'd be an idiot to not at least try, so I'll do that much, but moving to somewhere that I'm going to have a language barrier terrifies me. But we'll see :p

You overthink things.
And surely they speak English in Quebec just as much as they do French.

.
They do speak English, but not speaking French will hinder me. Most jobs in Quebec would require me to be fluently bilingual. While I can read French reasonably, it's been a long time since GCSEs, and speaking it would be hard.
