I don't think his post is 'moaning' at allIt's an eloquent and insightful piece of reflection. If every arrogant person, bully etc spent a little time looking at themselves and the world around them, the world might just be a better place for it.
He doesn't seem to be making excuses or playing the blame game, and admits he isn't proud of his actions. Read it again - he looked inside himself, saw what was wrong and tried his hardest to make it right. Sounds like the right thing to do.
