Advice from Old People
Sometimes, just sometimes, old people say something worth listening to. Ok, so it's like picking the needle out of a whole haystack of mis-remembered war stories, but those gems should be celebrated.
Tell us something worthwhile an old-type person has told you.
Note, we're leaving the definition of old up to you, you smooth-skinned youngsters.

Next time you see noisy wee ned cars...
... just think about this one.
My Dad used to be a mechanic for a Formula Ford team, back in the early 70s, and did a bit on rally cars too. Next time you see a chavmobile with a "reversed-over-a-coal-scuttle" exhaust, just heed his words: "The more noise in the paddock, the slower they are on the track".
Of course, it could be figurative, too, but it's reasonably literally true.

Which team?
Sorry, my dad used to race for Red Rose racing and also was involved in Formula Ford, he was a mechanic for a while too. He also raced Mini Coopers for a bit. Sadly he's not with us anymore, so I can't be more detailed.

While this is true-ish
for road cars, having been to numerous Formula 1 races, I can attest that the noisiest ones are definitely the fastest!

Rakky:
Can't remember - I know that the car was owned and driven by Graham Cuthbert from Dundee, and this was around the early 70s. Unfortunately my Dad's not around to ask any more, either.
