Great bands working today1 - literally and figuratively, The Mars Volta
2 - Tool (metal but still gorgeous)
3 - Opeth (very very metal but insanely melodic with far more music per square inch)
4 - dEUS (Most under-rated band ever)
5 - Built To Spill (Yankee stoner rock)
6 - Cherry Ghost (manc twangers - gorgeous)
7 - Elbow (awful live but great studio sound)
8 - The Redneck Manifesto (instrumental band probably not heard of outside Ireland - CHECK EM OUT!)
9 - Sub-Plots (formerly envelope). Again, Irish, Mogwai influenced, a little angsty at times but beautifully rhythmic and they rock)
10 - Interpol - dont hate them because they're on MTV and have silly haircuts. They are really good.
