Overcoming adversity
The Doveston asks: Have you ever fought back from a terrible illness? Got out of a job that was going nowhere? Secured a great victory against the odds through dishonesty and cheating? Warm our hearts, B3ta

I worked with a young fella with mild CP
he was 1 of the blokes living here.
Kookiest person I had ever met. Ever. He was known as [Insert Name Here] the Drongo - if there was going to be someone goofing about, he was it.
When I left the organisation that ran his group home I applied to be his advocate (he was still under 18, his only familial contact was his gran - who wasn't getting younger) with his gran's blessing (she was still his legal guardian then).
They refused me due to the fact that having been an employee I might be biased towards the client. They even refused me access to his house to see him, despite the other staff's & his grandmothers wishes. I have my eyes and ears there - he's doing fine.
Had his first beer with him, he came home with me for a couple of pubic holidays - getting "drunk" on the (non alcoholic) Brandy Butter was good value.
Drongo is a good bloke & for the 6 odd years I knew him I am proud to see him having grown up into such an upstanding young fella.
