This is a question Lies that got out of control

Ever claimed you could speak a foreign language to impress friends, colleagues and/or get laid? Make a twat of yourself - and I couldn't possibly comment - saying you were the godson of the chairman of BP? Tell us how your porkies have caught up with you

(Thanks to augsav and Sandettie Light Vessel Automatic for the suggestions)

according to wikipedia
Haircut 100 had their first hit 'love plus one' which reached number 4 in October 1981 which contradicts DH’s statement that this happened in 1980. Also videojukeboxes were not in usage at until the mid to late 1980's and those utilised laserdiscs with a CRT screen and certainly not projector systems while assertion of a screening ratio of '600% full size' is frankly ludicrous. Even at their maximum usage they were very, very uncommon.
Although there is a history of ‘video juke boxes going back to the 1940’s in the USA Europe did not have them until the Scopitone ST-16 and Scopitone ST-36 which were made in France in the very late fifties and early sixties.
So even if the ‘dingy bar’ had one of these, had somehow been able to construct a playback system that they had rigged to have a massive projector, it certainly would not have been optimised for playing 'pop videos' a year before they came out in the charts.

Well bugger me!
This means that Dave must have been either a bullshitter or a time traveller.

I favour the latter.

Columbo is my role model
'just one more question' (with cigar in hand while wearing shabby suit, looking at you through my one good eye)
