This is a question Phobias

What gives you the heebie-jeebies?

It's a bit strong to call this a phobia, but for me it's the thought of biting into a dry flannel. I've no idea why I'd ever want to or even get the opportunity to do so, seeing as I don't own one, but it makes my teeth hurt to think about it. *ewww*

Tell us what innocent things make you go pale, wobbly and send shivers down your spine.

Two things...
Sand - Specifically when there's a thin spreading of it on the pavement I'm walking on and it makes a spine shuddering "crunch" underfoot. I'm not too bad walking barefoot on a beach full of sand, but I have to get every last bit off my feet before I return to hard surfaces. I also dread it getting in my food at the beach because of the same crunch you get between your teeth.

Also

Pigeons - Ever since I was slapped in the face by a French pigeon (or more accurately a pigeon in France - I never checked it's passport) I'm much more wary of the filthy flying rats. It's embarrassing but I've been known to stop dead and flinch as one flies towards me.

*hugs you*
A fellow sand-fearer!
Sounds like you've got a mild case, just the word "sand" makes me go cold :(

Ha!
Try snails.

Last contract in London, the route back from the pub was unlit and *covered* with big snails.

See...
Snails are no problem at all, just sand...

*shudders*

Slugs and Snails...
Standing on those is indeed unpleasant as it's horrible and icky, but for some reason the grinding, grating sensation brought about by sand is so much worse.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who'll walk out in the road to avoid a pavement covered in the finely spread gritty nightmare.

Sand, eh?
I went to Barbados for a week when I was a toddler. I was utterly terrified of sinking into the sand if I stood on it, so much so in face that I wouldn't set foot on the beach without a towel underneath me until I finally got over my fear on the final day we were there.

Now, I love the feeling of burying my feet in dry sand.

Mmmmmmm...

Saaaaaaaaand.
