This is a question Phobias

What gives you the heebie-jeebies?

It's a bit strong to call this a phobia, but for me it's the thought of biting into a dry flannel. I've no idea why I'd ever want to or even get the opportunity to do so, seeing as I don't own one, but it makes my teeth hurt to think about it. *ewww*

Tell us what innocent things make you go pale, wobbly and send shivers down your spine.

Slugs, wasps and heights
First post of a long time lurker! Wish me luck...

I hate slugs with a passion, eveything about them makes me squirm and feel ill. This is especially helpful as my boyfriend's house seems to be suffering from an infestation of them, so he quite frequently finds me squeaking, petrified, in their kitchen before he removes the offending gastropod. This extends to anything slimy, so snails, worms, and maggots are not in favour either. I had to do a lab with dead maggots as part of my degree a couple of months ago, and that did not go well!

I also hate wasps, evil stinging things, and heights, although oddly I am not afraid of flying.

*Insert joke about length here* *pop*

Doing a lab
With dead maggots is better than doing one with live ones!

/stopped reading after the word 'boyfriend'
Just kidding, welcome new person, good first post and all that!

I agree
about the dead maggots being better than live ones! We were also in pairs so I just got a good friend to do most of it while I cowered and spent most of my time trying to ignore them.

And thank you, Bert! Hopefully there will be more to come! :)

You have a.......
French name, therefore you are french, therefore you eat snails which are basically glorified slugs ;)

Was this
A practical involving giant chromosomes from the salivary glands of blow-fly maggots, by any chance?

@ Dirty weeker
Slugs are snails whose homes have been repossessed by greedy slug landlords, thus the empty shells we find are the assets of Montgomery Burns-esque gastropod tycoons. Since they don't even pay capital gains tax on their secondary residences, I feel it my personal mission to liberate this protective housing for provision to the oppressed slugs in my vicinity.

Most of the time, the ungrateful bastards don't even want their new 'pied a terre's' so I pour salt on the thankless slimy feckers.

Hello New Person!
I liked! :)

Aha,
I'm surprised the name came up so soon! I am not French at all, it's just that a friend at school used to call me that because she found it was the name of a piece of music by Chopin and it amused her, and since it's become quite a useful screen name.

Kaol, that practical sounds horrific, and no, it wasn't. I am doing a chemistry degree with a minor in forensic science and this particular lab was for the forensics bit, all we had to do was measure the length of a few dead ones but that was enough for me!

And thanks everyone for the messages of liking, it's really nice to be welcomed!
