It's a bit strong to call this a phobia, but for me it's the thought of biting into a dry flannel. I've no idea why I'd ever want to or even get the opportunity to do so, seeing as I don't own one, but it makes my teeth hurt to think about it. *ewww*

Well as you're not going toothed on it...... Nip down to your nearest motor-factors and see what they have. You want a bog-standard fan-belt or alternator belt. Sturdy, cheap and easily capable to delivering the forces you're talking about. They should have a huge array of sizes available.
Otherwise I'd have sent you looking for Aratron...
