Gun For HIreYes. Shoe shopping is fine with me. I am the Renaissance Marine: gotta make sure I have the latest pair of Hi-tec combat boots!
You know, you'd be surprised at the absurd fixation on footwear we had in the Corps. Of course, we walked most places, so it's a good thing to have on a good pair of shoes.
As for the "In The States" 'beatin's' Yes, they would be decidedly cheaper...however, an area that is too remote will actually cost more because I at least have to be able to ENJOY some aspect of the trip. Though, proximity to desert is a plus. Sand is WAY easier to dig holes in than most places around here.
