I spend way too much time in the company of lawyers and I have observed the following traits of failure: spelling; punctuation (I am assured that "the law requires a different interpretation of the rules of grammar and punctuation" i.e gobbledegook); typing; time recording; an inability to use effing MS Word or an email application and for pity's sake if your spelling and, or, proofreading is crap at the very least turn to the beast that is spellchecker (preferably configured to English (British).
Some of them are perfectly nice people but aren't 'the professions' supposed to occupy the upper echelons of learning.
