When medium refers to the various ways we acquire information, such as radio, television, print, and the internet then media is a collective noun and therefore plural.

When medium refers to the cooking of steaks or to a general condition of a thing then it functions as an adjective and plural has no meaning.

When medium refers to a person or other agency acting as a go-between (a psychic person who is a medium, or air considered as a substance through which sound travels) then the plural is usually mediums.
