It's easy.I had a similar experience also on the Northern line coming down from Camden Town.
Bloke got in the carriage and then announced "Does this train go to Heathrow?"
Several people answered and started offering advice on how best to get there and he took it all in. He then piped up with "I don't want to go there, I was just asking to see if anyone knew." and the whole carriage started laughing and believe it or not, chatting for the next 10 minutes or so.
Never seen or heard anything like that on the tube before or since, and it was a genuinely lovely experience.
More people should try it I reckon.
