This is a question Rubbish Towns

I once went to Basildon. It was closed, I got chased by a bunch of knuckle-dragged yobs until I was lost in a maze of concrete alleyways and got food poisoning off pie. Tell us about the awful places you've visited or have your home.

Thanks to SpankyHanky for the suggestion

Frontier Town
Now then; Askam just happens to be where I have resided for the last 8 years or so. I freely admit that I do live up the posh-end, but I don't let that get in the way.

Against it, I would note that it does not have anywhere decent to eat, the local shops are very limited, and the fact that you have to go to Manchester to get any sort of culture.

For it; I would say that it has a great sense of community and it is jolly close to some great scenery, and views, for which you would pay big money to have in the middle-class enclaves of the Lake District. Biggest downside; the WIND (does it ever stop?).

I would also argue that if there is a dog-turd of a place in the peninsula, it is actually Ulverston, where the locals seem to think they are a cut above the rest of us, when in fact they have their heads jammed far up their own behinds. I try to have as little to do with the place as possible. I would suggest that Ulverston Dwelling folk who cant afford to live in the Lake District itself. Ulverston has a "latin quarter" but those who live in the better parts of town will deny it exists.
