i've known a few people who refused to pay rentbecause their landlords hadn't made repairs. they were too stupid to realise that they were not helping things along by withholding rent!

I've not the slightest bit of sympathy for someone who hasn't yet worked out that they could fix the place themselvesthen withhold the value of their time and materials from the next month's rent... instead of living in a shithole and complaining that no-one's done anything about it
