This is a question Shoplifting

When I was young and impressionable and on holiday in France, I followed some friends into a sweet shop and we each stole something. I was so mortified by this, I returned them.

My lack of French hampered this somewhat - they had no idea why the small English boy wanted to add some chews to the open box, and saw it as an attempt by a nasty foreigner oik to contaminate their stock. Not my best day.

What have you lifted?

The Tesco's Scam
When the Self Service machines were first introduced in our local tesco me and some friends quickly realized a great opportunity to save money and feel dangerously cool.

In said tescos they also had a bakery section which was also self service, when combined with the self service checkout you had 4 bags bursting with various baked goods all coming to the price of one jam doughnut (14p).

Every little helps.

fails
I work the self service checkouts at tesco and they have to feel the weight of every item put through - so if you put an item that is too heavy on the scale then it will error and call an attendent.

Sorry :)

Cunning
To fool the weighing scales you have to make sure that the unpaid for purchases never touch the scales on either side, this way they are never registered. You must beware of eagle eyed attendants, but they normally can't be arsed, so pilfer away!

French Pastry Larceny Extravaganza!
Tesco's self service - an Almond Croissant (89p of pastry goodness) weighs the same as a Butter Croissant (50p of plain dryness). 39p saving, plausible deniability, and I'm a big fat cunt.

They don't care
I'm sure the amount they save on paying checkout staff more than compensates them for minor pilferages like that.
