This may need to be spelled out. The boycott only started in 1977, so not everyone may have heard of it yet. Here's a good introduction: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nestl%C3%A9_boycott

I'm ashamed to admit that Kit-Kat Chunkys temporarily broke my principles. In my defence; at that time our chain of shops were part of a promotion (4 for a pound IIRC*), I got staff discount on that as well, pay was so low you seldom had the cash for anything better, and breaks were so short you seldom had time for anything better.

* You don't get many of them to the pound these days (Sorry for the innuendo; but I had to slip it in).
