This is a question Amazing displays of ignorance

Sandettie Light Vessel Automatic tells us: "My dad's friend told us there's no such thing as gravity - it's just the weight of air holding us down". Tell us of times you've been floored by abject stupidity. "Whenever I read the Daily Express" is not a valid answer.

My auntie is the same
About 20 years ago she lived as an ex-pat in Spain. The only Spaniards she ever spoke to - in English, of course - were manning the supermarket checkout or cleaning her pool. When she'd split up with the bloke over there she'd been shacked up with, and sloped back to Wales to live with us ('cos she didn't have a pot of her own to piss in), she once speculated on whether to start taking Spanish lessons at night school.

In the next breath, in response to a Daily Mail article she was reading (wouldn't you know), she went off into an extended rant about foreigners coming over here, not knowing any of the language or ever talking to anyone outside of the closed community they lived in except when they absolutely had to and, when they did, expecting to be able to do it in their own language.

"Er, isn't that what you just did in Spain, Auntie?"
