I always put them in for 3-4 minutes for a perfect boiled egg, with hard albumen and soft yolkAnd 10 minutes for a fully hard-boiled egg. Surely 8 minutes would mean the yolk is halfway hard...
Either that, or you're used to much bigger eggs than I am!
