In all fairness
On an ecological scale he was basically right. There's no way we could make a significant dent in the word's water supply one way or the other through electrolysis or hydrogen burning.

You know all that greenhouse CO2 we're getting from burning hydrocarbon fuels (i.e. crude oil derivatives)?

Well, the other product is water.
