Ask for it in writing ASAP.Before Gary comes back from holiday if you can, otherwise she has plausible deniability. Also, if she has requested you to hand in your notice, but not actually sacked you (and is telling people she has) those are two very different things. Certainly worth taking up with her line managers at any rate.
Though heads up on the swearing in the stockroom thing - some folk really don't like it and can be quite offended by it. Not saying this was the case here (I have no idea) but its worth holding back on it when at work, customers or not.
