@Lord of BalrogsYep, I first heard it when I was 10 or 11 on a school trip. My teacher rounded everyone up after a trip into some woods and began telling ghost stories. This one stuck in my head.
I've added plenty of padding, but it's essentially the same story with the same spang-worthy ending :-)
