ConspiracyYep, you're quite right - the fuel doesn't burn hot enough to melt steel.
But at those temperatures, steel loses at least 50-60% of its strength. It doesn't need to melt, it just needs to get hot enough :)
Yay for conspiracy nuts - they're always so entertaining.
