Starting something you couldn't finish
Finnbar says: I used to know a guy who tattooed LOVE across his left knuckles, but didn't tattoo HATE on the other knuckles because he was right-handed and realised he couldn't finish. Ever run out of skills or inspiration halfway through a job?

Part pea...
I mentioned this in the good advice QOTW, but I have an uncle who saved up for a very long time to buy his dream classic car, an MG something or other, in 'lime flower' as I remember the colour, only a few made in that colour apparently. Easy to see why it was basically snot green.
Anyway, he pays a lot for the car, drives it twice then sticks it in the garage to restore it to concours condition. Strips it down to a bare shell, with the aim of having it shot blasted and resprayed. Only then does he decide to find out much all this will cost, namely thousands almost as much as the car itself.
He realises he can't afford it and ends up selling the car for about a quarter of what he paid for it as a DIY project. Muppet.
