I think (fashionable opinions aside) that it's testament to the American remake of The Ring that I was able to enjoy it, having never seen it or the original before, despite watching it in the same room as a flamboyantly gay alcoholic, who, having consumed two bottles of wine, was screaming "OH MY GOD I HATE THIS BIT I HATE THIS BIT OH GOD I CAN'T WATCH IT!" and the like, throughout.
