This is more a civil
skirmish than an International conflagration though.

I do tend to see things simplistically, but there doesn't seem to be any great element of victory in a story where someone has managed, depite the overwhelming avalanche of information poured into our heads from a very young age, to get himself hooked on drugs.

The story should be that some guy in the pub offered you coke, and you said "no thanks, it's addictive, expensive and damages your health". If you managed to fuck that up, I've got very limited sympathy.
