Actually I do have a theory about this:
While the best three pics from the image challenge on /board and the best three stories from /qotw make it into the newsletter, there's no place to showcase the best three semi-literate half-witted offerings from /talk that week. The /talktards, understandably desperate for approval or recognition, see this as SO UNFAIR that, like an undervalued younger sibling, they feel the need to throw a tantrum and spoil everyone else's party. If they tried that shit on /board, they would quite rightly be sent packing with their tails between their legs, so they pick on the perceived "weaker" relation, where they can shout the loudest.
Sound about right?
