I actually think this is more of a media myth than anything elseI think most English football supporters realise that the chances of England beating the likes of Spain, Germany, Argentina etc are somewhere between slim and fuck all.
However, in the run-up to every competition the media bums the England team up to the point where anything other than victory is considered a massive failure.
