You can tell your mates dad it was the mafiaThey expected to get an easy ride when Joe Kennedy did a deal with the chicago mafia run unions ... basically they didn't expect the kennedies to go so hard on organised crime. And basically because Frank Sinatra had brokered most of the deals between the mafia and the kennedies.
It's all pretty simple. Same reason bobby was killed.
There's a good documentry called - Frank Sinatra's Dark Past - which has lots of stuff about it.
Who did the killing I don't know - but I'm pretty sure it was a mafia hit.
