Giving directionsWhen I first walk around a city I've never visited before, I like giving directions to befuddled locals. In response to their halting questions, I generally spout half-remembered gibberish from the tourist guidebooks, and use dead-reckoning. On their part, they are usually just disoriented and insecure, and looking for human contact. Surprise! I am too! And in exchange, we happily forgive error.
