Seams?
Has Gordon Brown been 'shopped into this image?
(Original here if you'd like to take a closer look.)

heh
So the 'seam' is actually light bouncing off the edge of two-ply?

are you serious?
the "seam" is the boy's shirt

you have a good eye, sir
I put it down to the reflective qualities of the British tan, myself.

it's the sleeve
showing up from under the jacket, like the girl in the front.
Game over man. Game over!

Whatabout the freakish, chestburster-like wrist protruding from his middle?

The image abounds with unlikely-looking sharp edges, not just on Gordon.
It's probably just been put through a slight sharpen filter.

It's the girl's head
glued to his jacket that I find most suspicious.

Most photographers do sharpen their images slightly.
The flat, bunched up effects here are what you'd get with a telephoto lens too.
It's the elements in front of Gordon you'd check for shoppery, and I can't see any signs there.

and some digital SLR cameras are affected by oversharpening
and what wheely siad about the people in front.

That would be an ace scam!
Put jpg artifacts on real pictures just to annoy politicians!
Woo!

Woo!
Fantastic way to start
a conspiracy theory too I bet.
I might have to do this.

and here, ladies and gentlemen, is the solution to the mistery of Mr. Brown's smile.

In all honesty
I think he has - the lighting on his face is really flat compared to the kids. And those harsh lines don't look to convincing either...

he always looks like he just learned to smile half an hour ago
to me

Is it just me,
or does he appear to have one rather saggy, pendulous breast under his shirt?

He *does* look a bit shopped in,
but then, so do all the children, when I come to look at it.
I think it might just be unnatural lighting coupled with over-zealous Sharpening.
