This is a normal post If she was serious about topping herself, she wouldn't have needed 9 'attempts'.
She's definitely got the AD bit of ADHD going on. But she's still just an idiotic, melodramatic, angst ridden teenage fuckwit who would probably be doing much better at life if her parents had skelped her a bit more often.
The NHS did fail her in that respect, mind. Seems it's easier to diagnose a brat with ADHD these days than it is to call the parents out on their shitty parenting.

This is a normal post Thanks for explaining,
I'm sure you're a qualified mental-health expert, right?

This is a normal post Not at all. But I'd wager that somebody who survives nine suicide attempts is looking for an audience, rather than an escape.

This is a normal post On a fucking railway path?
Not much of an audience there.

What you probably mean to say is, she was seeking attention.

Well...whether suicidal people are attention-seeking or not doesn't matter much, because they need some fucking attention.

Otherwise, they tend to end up dead.

This is a normal post From my experience, suicidal folk are about as far-removed from attention seeking as it gets.
This girl would likely have ended up dead not because she was suicidal, but because she was an idiot desperately seeking attention. Make of that what you will, but I take exception to mongoloids shouting wolf with 'failed' suicide attempts when there are genuinely suicidal folk out there in real need of help that are likely getting put off asking for said help out of fear of being put in the same boat as fuckwits like this.

This is a normal post Yeah...
...you just linked a page that explains why the term is racist, defamatory, misleading, and unacceptable. Well done.

This is a normal post Discussion?
I wonder if we can avoid trying to score points in a pointless internet argument, and have a real discussion instead? You're clearly not an idiot, not a child, and you're not new here, so let's try?

Putting aside the racism thing - because perhaps you didn't know that the term is unacceptable to most people these days, or perhaps you don't care; perhaps you're mature enough to admit you've learned it is, and can avoid it in future, and perhaps not. Wikipedia has an article about the term "nigger" too, that doesn't make it acceptable.

What concerns me more is the words you say about this young girl, who neither of us knows, but clearly has mental illness challenges - she hears voices, she was sectioned. You call her an "idiotic, melodramatic, angst ridden teenage fuckwit", as well as a "mongoloid shouting wolf".

I hope you accept that mental illness is an illness, like cancer; there is no blame, the person doesn't wish it upon themself. People suffering depression, anorexia, or whatever are not merely 'seeking attention'.

Why do you think it's OK to abuse her in that way? What if she googles her name (perhaps wondering how the BBC story was received), and reads this thread? Would you say those things to her face? Why do you think it's acceptable here?

I posted the link because I sincerely believe that by highlighting mental illness, and our inadequate systems for dealing with it, is a good thing.

You made one very good point - it's terrible that so many valuable resources are wasted dealing with the issues. I'm sure we've both seen TV shows ("What's your emergency") where their services are severely stretched by dealing with a few individuals who make an inordinate number of calls, and I recently read an article, "Five patients made 8303 emergency calls in a year".

Of course, that's disgraceful. But I believe the real problem is, we simply have no adequate systems for dealing with the underlying problems of mental illness.

This is a normal post Yes you are right
Mental illness is not a "cry for help" of course but there is a small percentage of people that fall into that category of mentally ill that do self-harm and/or attempt suicide to get the help they need. I am amazed that someone who has tried nine times has also failed nine times and that tells me that this woman did not want to die but wanted help.

The NHS unfortunately are overwhelmed and managed by people who care more about freeing up beds and balancing the books than care for people who need the help. From the minister through to the management tiers. Then we reach the front line who work under horrendous conditions with bad pay and the conclusion that no-one appreciates them above the junior management level.

What the NHS needs is not money but a complete overhaul but this won't happen because those that would be in the position to do this would lose their own jobs in the process.
