I reckon I'd feel far more psychologically comfortable shooting someone with a sniper rifle rather than stabbing them in the neck with a hunting knife.
Blowing up a few nameless, monochrome, vaguely human-shaped blobs on a computer monitor would be a piece of piss. It's the kind of shit I can imagine the military outsourcing to call centres within a decade or two.

I think it depends on how long you've been watching.
Things like the ability to have empathy are relevant.
Obviously, it is not the same as rescuing a wounded colleague or holding a position under fire.

Plenty of people get medals without being shot at, there's your Gen service medal, op banner medal,UN bosnia medal, Former Yugo medal. Everyone on gulf war one got one. Most soldiers aren't infantry. There are specific medals for gallantry and valour. He won't get one of them.
