This is a question Annoying Partners

As a recent divorcee, it would be churlish to reveal what annoys me the most about my ex, apart from that unfortunate business with the crinkle-cut beetroot which tipped us over the edge. So, what winds you up about your significant other? If you have no partner, tell us about workmates. If you have no workmates, improvise with an annoying tramp

It strikes me that there are an awful lot of annoying partners and exes.

And most of them have posted here this week.

Of course
There are basically two groups of people who get annoyed by their partners. First of all are the grown-ups who realise that loving someone is no bar to being irritated to hell by them, and that in fact it's being able to love someone while being irritated to hell by them which proves that a relationship's good.

Then there are the miserable unfortunates with low self esteem and poor judgement (the fat goths, basically) who are so desperate to be with someone, anyone, that they'll put up with any annoyance or abuse for the sake of a warm body they can call theirs. Not much love there on either side, just desperation and exploitation.

In the middle are those immature enough to believe that only perfection will do (which is fine) but don't realise that perfection isn't a lifetime of easy agreement and lovey-bunnikins. It's far more interesting than that, and if they don't work that out in time they end up (by about 40) partnerless, childless, loveless and deservedly alone.

Apart from the counting
This pretty much sums it all up.

When it's just little things about your partner that annoy you, you're lucky. Unfortunately without some mental bat-shit to compare with, these little things seem all the more important.

However, you put up with the little things for years on end, until one day, it's time for a new patio... If they were really bad, you'd have left long before that stage.
